LifestyleGarden® Solex, So Good


The first week of July saw the SOLEX exhibition take place at the NEC in Birmingham and we presented the 2017 LifestyleGarden® collection. It was clear from the conversations with visitors and exhibitors at the show that UK retail sales of garden furniture had suffered this year as a result of the very poor weather. However, it was great to hear that LifestyleGarden® had continued to be a success for our stockists, with almost every account reporting that our ranges had completely sold out. Our attendance at the show built upon many the successful meetings we have had at the new showroom in Palma de Mallorca and so for many accounts there was a solid foundation, with individual ranges having already been selected and orders placed in advance of the show. The meetings with a number of customers in Palma also enabled final tweaks to be made prior to the final range being presented. From the outset of SOLEX it was clear, from the constant, heavy flow of visitors to the stand that the reputation of the LifestyleGarden® brand was spreading. We were able to scan the passes of everyone who came to see us on the stand and we discovered that this year saw an increase of 16% in visitors compared to 2015.


More significantly perhaps was the fact that 76% of all visitors were potential new accounts which is very encouraging and positive. This was due to the hard work done with existing customers before the show, which led to us having more time to meet potential new customers at the show; it also illustrates the work which now needs to be done in order to follow up on those leads. As one of the few manufacturers at the show, with the additional, unique ability to combine products from all ranges into mixed containers, we were able to offer a service that no other companies are able to and this has resulted in a strong sales to independent retailers and garden centres in the UK market. However, we will not be sitting back on the success enjoyed up to this point; we are working hard with our colleagues in Vietnam to prepare an even better range for next year, with many new and exciting products, in preparation for the visitors to the Palma showroom at the start of February 2017.
